Since it tis the season, the bowl season that is, the on the field action is going to slow down. What else is left for us die hard fans to do but look at recruiting and imagine how the future of the program is going to look. The Gators already have 18 commitments and will probably bring in 22 to 24 players in total for the 2010 class.
No practice for a couple days, so the Gators’ coaching staff is on the road visiting with recruits trying to finish off this class. With National Signing day less than two months away there are still some very big names left. With that in mind here are the top five recruits I still see out there for the Gators.
Other players on the short list include defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa, offensive tackle Chaz Green, d-end Chris Martin, and wide receiver Ivan McCartney. The Gators lost out to FSU on Jeff Luc and Lamarcus Joyner. I twas little bit of a shock on both players as Ohio St seemed to be in the lead for Lamarcus Joyner, while the Gators’ loss of Charlie Strong and the pick up of Eddie Gran for FSU helped them to land Luc.

The complete package at RB. Brown can run inside or outside and has the speed to be a threat to take it the distance at any time. Mack should be ready to see the field early as Tebow moves on and the John Brantley era starts.

How often do you watch highlight tapes on offensive tackles? Seantrel Henderson is one that you need to check out. He dominated defensive line last year as a Junior. All the scouting services have him as their top lineman of the 2010 class. The Gators are one of 50 plus teams that are recruiting this 6′7″ 295 lbs stud. Check out the tape for your self.

The last few days their has been some drama around Sharrif Floyd. Sharrif a top Defensive Tackle in the class of 2010 found himself in the middle come controversy over the last couple of days. It all stared when Matt Alkire, who covers the Northern region for Scout.com, reported that Floyd came back from a trip to Florida and told one of his confidantes that Florida was negative recruiting. He was reported to say that UF was pointing out Penn State’s record for having players in legal trouble. Also he was reported that Florida and Tennessee are well known to be the worst for negative recruiting.
Then last night Alkire backed off his report that Florida was involved in any negative recruiting. Floyd did admit some school gave him PSU arrest records but that school wasn’t Florida. One coach in college football that has admitted to pointing out schools legal records is Randy Shannon…hummmm?
Mike Alkire did go to post this on a Gator forum…
On the Sharrif Floyd situation…
Jason told me I didn’t need to, but I want to apologize to you guys as fans and the coaches as I know they read this.
I will have an interview up today with Sharrif talking and apparently my source got the school wrong. Sharrif wouldn’t tell me who it was, but it did happen and wasn’t Florida.
In fact, all he had were great things to say about the program.
Again, my apologies. I won’t be coming back here to respond to this thread, but if you feel you need to PM me that’s fine.
The interview with Sharrif will be up today. Looks like Florida and South Carolina lead.

This is junior film on Darius White the 6′ 3″ 195 lbs Wide Receiver from Fort Worth (TX) Dunbar. Dunbar is a true play-maker with great size and speed. He has a very quick first step and has a great vertical to be able to make plays in the end zone. The Gators have offered Darius, but he is also recruited by Texas, USC, OSU, Texas Tech, Alabama and Utah.

ESPN says “Luc may be the most physically, superior linebacker in this class, hands down.” Scouts goes on to say “Luc is like a freak of nature on the high school level. He has size of an NFL linebacker and he plays on another level.” GatorsNow says Jeff Luc come on down, we want you to be the next Great Gator Linebacker!
