Urban Meyer says he will stay at Florida as long as they will have him.
Former FSU punter Keith Cottrell was in Clemson, South Carolina to watch the ‘Noles take on the Tigers. If you are full of hate (and maybe some booze) when asked about Bobby Bowden and Mickey Andrews will morph into this mini diatribe on Urban Meyer.
After the Georgia game, Riley Cooper was on ESPN’s First Take to talk about the unbelievable one-handed catch he had for a touchdown. In the interview, he was asked about his baseball career and signing with the Texas Rangers. As he was telling about the the signing process, Cooper said the three weeks he had to wait to hear that he could play this year were the longest 3 weeks of his life.
Head Coach Urban Meyer following Florida’s 27-3 win over Vanderbilt on Nov. 7, 2009.
Coach Urban Meyer has made SEC history again. This time he is the first coach to have the strong arm of Mike Slive hand out a fine for the SEC referee gag order. Meyer got a $30,ooo fine for these words:
“I don’t want to step out of line, [but] there should have been a penalty, in my opinion. Obviously it should have been. You have to protect quarterbacks. That’s the whole purpose. It’s right in front of the referee.”
You can find more from around the web here on the fine.
Seems that the world of college football on CollegeFootballTalk.com would be pretty dull if it wasn’t for Coach Meyer and Brandon Spikes. I guess the Alabama vs. LSU game isn’t worth covering as the Gators have five of the eleven headlines on their home page late Wednesday night.
Lane Kiffin still can’t keep the Gators off his mind. From the Knoxville News Sentinel:
When asked of Meyer’s comments on the SEC refs UT Coach Lane Kiffin responded, “Urban Meyer? Criticized the officials, wow, that will be interesting. We’ll see.”
A few days after the Brandon Spikes eye-gouge, I can see the situation a bit more clearly. When this event initially occurred, I was extremely disappointed and said that any Gator, much less the leader of the defense, who would stoop to this level of play was shameful. After watching the game for the second time and focusing on Spikes, I do see what led him to lose focus. To quote Chris Rock, “I’m not saying he should have eye-gouge Washaun Ealey, but I understand.”

Seven games into the 2009 season and the sputtering offense is the hot topic. It seems to be the question that Coach Meyer is asked week in and week out now. Last week leading into the Mississippi State game he had this to say about the offense:
