Gators Lose To Ohio State 81-74

In their first big test of the season, Billy Donovan’s Florida basketball side lost 81-74 to Ohio State in Columbus. Like most early season games, this one had some good points and bad points.

Positive Points

  • The performance of fab freshman Brad Beal who scored 17 points
  • Balanced scoring as Kenny Boynton, Erik Murphy, and Patric Young all were in double digits
  • Gators shot 50% from three-point land
  • Florida utilized its size advantage to out-rebound the Buckeyes

Negative Points

  • Beal turned the ball over five times and went just 6 of 16 from the field
  • The Gators defence had new answer for Buckeyes point guard Aaron Craft who led the Buckeyes in all facets the game, “dominating from start to finish,” according to Gator coach Billy Donovan.
  • Gators had 16 turnovers
  • Florida missed eight crucial free throws

Up next for Florida is North Florida Ospreys at the O’Connell Center on Thursday.
