David Nelson posted on his twitter account (@DNelson83) saying, “I love it when I’m in a random place and see someone wearing Gator attire. ” Well he is going to see a lot more of it. There’s a new groove coming to the Swamp! It’s the biggest CHOMPETITION ever to hit the Swamp. The CHOMPETITION begins September 4. The winner will be announced at the last Gator home football game on November 20. For more details, visit Shands.org/Chomp.
Lets take a look at the moral victory for Fisher. While James Wilder is one heck of an athlete, he is not going to make or break a program or be the sole player to turn the Seminoles’ ship around. Reports were that Florida recruited him to play linebacker, but he wanted to play a running back. That is not “Translation: Gator fans are worried.” That is just the fact. The Gators have yet to have a true blue chip running back in the Urban Meyer era and have been just fine.
While this is a great “Kiffin victory” to give Jimbo, the fact is Florida State has lost the last six games to the Gators, with the last three meetings anything but close contests. Gator fans have seen great recruiting classing from FSU this past decade. Take a look at the class of 2006 where Rivals.com had Florida #2 and FSU #3, and who got the best of that on the field? Put all the preseason headline grabbers out there you can, and paper victories before they play since once they take the field these victories seem harder to come by against Coach Meyer.
As for the head line of Replacing Tim Tebow is easier than replacing Bobby Bowden, how is this even fair? How could replacing the only face a program has over the past 34 years be easier that replacing a 3 year starting QB? That is like saying replacing Charlie Ward is easier than replacing Steve Spurrier. Florida State got Danny Kanell out of that deal, while we Gator fans got Ron Zook. So, sorry Jimbo, if history repeats itself things don’t look too good for you.
I guess somebody has to bring some life back into this rivalry, and for that I say thanks to Mike Bianchi. You have helped turn Jimbo into the 2010 version of Lane Kiffin, and I only can hope the sequel is as entertaining as as the original. Bama has Paul Finebaum and now FSU gets Mike Bianchi.

Been a great day for Gator football, and the first year I remember with out any drama on signing day.
The Gators already had 11 commitments in house from early enrollees. These players included Matt Elam, Jaylen Watkins, Gerald Christian, Trey Burton, Robert Clark, Jordan Haden, Leon Orr, Solomon Patton, Joshua Shaw, Ian Silberman, and Neiron Ball.
After a drama filled weekend that saw Coach Meyer retire then have a change of heart the next day, Gator fans were glad to see Monday roll around and the back to business mentality re-established. Good thing Jeremy Foley is the best AD in college sports and has had practice handling this situation with Billy Donovan. Jeff Greer of US New & World Report says, “It wouldn’t be Florida without drama.”
While Coach Meyer is away from the program, Steve Addazio will take over as the interim coach. The current players are very satisfied with the promotion of Coach Addazio.
As Coach Addazio tried to get ready for his new role as interim coach, former Gators defensive coordinator Charlie Strong is trying to juggle both the Florida and Louisville jobs. When asked if he would have been given a shot to coach the Gators when Meyer left Strong replied, “You never know if I stayed here what would have happened,” he said. “So I just don’t look at it like that.”
Ted Lewis of The Times-Picayune has put looks for Tebow to pull off one more miracle to end Coach Meyer’s job related stress. Maybe that won’t happen, but he does look at how Tebow has moved mountains during his distinguished career. During his interview he does procure this great quote from Tebow: “Good for them,” Tebow said in a rare public moment of spite. “If they enjoy seeing me cry, then I have bigger things to worry about.”
Fox 8 out of New Orleans is reporting business is down for the Sugar Bowl this year. There are still a 1000 general admission tickets left for the game.
For a little humor, the fake Lane Kiffin Show discusses the Urban Meyer resignation with new Florida head football coach, Phillip Fulmer.
